Henry Schein Trains Sales Force to Help Vets Increase OSHA Compliance

Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, announced today that Henry Schein Animal Health’s entire sales force—more than 250 sales representatives across the country—has been trained and certified by Compliance Training Partners (CTP) to help veterinary practices comply with state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations for workplace safety.

CTP completed training the Henry Schein Animal Health sales force in its method of OSHA compliance earlier this month at the Company’s national sales meeting in New Orleans. The meeting brought together more than 400 Team Schein Members and representatives from 69 supplier partners.

OSHA regulations require everything from first aid kits and eyewash stations to exit signs and safety training for employees. New OSHA regulations take effect June 1, and organizations could face thousands of dollars in fines if they are found not to be in compliance.

Every Henry Schein Animal Health sales representative is now certified by CTP in its OSHA compliance method to audit practices, train staff, and offer practice owners the products—including OSHA manuals, posters, and safety and medical equipment—to help them answer questions such as:

  • Is your office staff prepared for emergencies, first aid needs, and spills?
  • Are the proper signs posted for everything from labor laws to fire safety to biohazard warnings?
  • Do bottles and secondary containers have OSHA-compliant labels?
  • Does the staff have proper biohazard and radiation protection equipment?

“Our entire sales force is now equipped with the expertise to train veterinary practice staff in OSHA compliance, provide them with the products they need to implement improvements, and help them prepare in case of an OSHA inspection,” said Fran Dirksmeier, President, Henry Schein Animal Health, North America. “This is yet another example of Henry Schein Animal Health’s commitment to helping our customers build safe, efficient, and profitable practices that deliver quality care to patients.”
