Mare Recovering From Neurologic Herpesvirus in Idaho

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture reported a confirmed case of neurologic equine herpesvirus in Owyhee County.

A mare on a private farm was reported on July 20 as being recumbent and unable to stand. By July 23, she had recovered to the point of being able to stand and walk.

None of the 40 other horses on the property were demonstrating clinical signs at the time of this report.

There is a voluntary quarantine in place at the farm.
