More Equine Strangles in Michigan

A Quarter Horse mare from Ionia County, Michigan, was diagnosed with strangles.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed strangles in a 9-year-old Quarter Horse mare from Ionia County. 

The mare developed nasal discharge, fever and a cough and is recovering under the care of a veterinarian. No quarantines were issued. 

This case brings the total number of confirmed strangles cases in Michigan for 2018 to three.
