Three Georgia Horses Euthanized Due to EIA

The Georgia Department of Agriculture has confirmed equine infectious anemia (EIA) in three horses in Lamar County. Six counties have reported EEE.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture has confirmed equine infectious anemia (EIA) in three horses in Lamar County. 

The positive horses were identified through surveillance for an EIA trace initiated in another state. All three horses were euthanized. 

The remainder of the herd is under quarantine pending following up testing in 60 days.

EEE In Georgia

Also in Georgia, the Georgia Department of Agriculture has confirmed EEE cases in the following counties: Bleckley, Colquitt, Cook, Lowndes, Jenkins and Wayne. There have been six total confirmed cases of EEE in Georgia in 2018.
