The following disease reports come from the Equine Disease Communication Center.

Oklahoma’s Sixth Equine WNV Case 2017

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry confirmed the 6th reported WNV positive horse for 2017 in Oklahoma. The 5 year old Tennessee Walker gelding located in Muskogee County was showing severe neurologic signs and was euthanized. The horse was not vaccinated. A quarantine was not issued. Potomac Horse Fever Cases in Washington

An attending veterinarian has confirmed two cases of Potomac horse fever in horses located in Lewis, Washington. Clinical signs appeared on October 18, 2017. Two horses were affected; one was euthanized and the other is receiving treatment.

Kentucky’s 16th WNV Case 2017

On November 9, 2017, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture confirmed West Nile Virus in a female Quarter Horse cross in Graves County. The mare had facial and shoulder twitching and had not vaccination history. This is the 16 case of WNV in Kentucky in 2017.
