West Nile Virus Confirmed in Kentucky Thoroughbred Mare

A vaccinated Thoroughbred mare in Woodford County, Kentucky, was confirmed with West Nile virus and is recovering.

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture has confirmed a case of West Nile virus (WNV) in Woodford County. 

The 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare had onset of clinical signs on August 23 that included ataxia, fever and muscle fasciculations. The vaccinated mare was confirmed on August 25 and is recovering.
