Have you ever wondered how veterinarians and others in the veterinary industry find people to hire for their businesses? What about veterinarians and others looking for a job in the equine veterinary industry? The answer is the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Career Center!
In episode 4 of The Business of Practice podcast, we talk to Nick Altwies, who serves as AAEP’s director of membership. Altwies has been with the AAEP since 2009.
The AAEP Career Center is the most visited area at AAEP.org. The average number of views per job posting is 700-1,000.
“An employer can post a job in 5-10 minutes,” said Altwies, who explained that only first-timers had to register. “When you post a job, you can start searching resumes right away.”
For job seekers, you can post a resume with redacted personal information if you so desire, noted Altwies. He said you also can get a one-time free resume review. And for a fee, you can get career coaching.
AAEP recently launched its Outrider Mentoring program and used Naylor’s eMentor solution to assist with members accessing the program.

About the AAEP Career Center
Naylor/Boxwood is the company that hosts the AAEP Career Center. It is part of the veterinary career network of 60 veterinary-related career centers/job boards. AAEP members may elect to post their job for a slightly higher fee so it appears throughout this network providing them more exposure.
