Second Equine Infectious Anemia Case in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture (ODAFF) has confirmed the second EIA positive horse for 2017 in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture (ODAFF) has confirmed the second EIA-positive horse for 2017 in Oklahoma. The 6-year-old registered Quarter Horse gelding located in Bryan County was euthanized and the facility placed in quarantine. This horse was discovered as part of a disease investigation involving an EIA-positive racehorse in Louisiana. 

The two EIA-positive horses recently raced at Delta Downs racetrack in Venton, Louisiana. Past EIA test history for this horse is unknown.
