Presenter Bio

Josh Zacharias, DVM, MS, DACVS, obtained his DVM degree from Iowa State University. He undertook an internship at Oakridge Equine in Edmond, Oklahoma. He did his surgery residency and obtained his Master’s Degree at Purdue. He practiced as an emergency equine surgeon at Iowa State for a year before going to practice in Katy, Texas, for two years. He then moved to his current location in Greeley, Colorado, at Countryside Large Animal Veterinary Service. He is a boarded large animal surgeon and is also boarded with the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. During veterinary school Zacharias went to the Kentucky Horseshoeing school and apprenticed with the resident farrier at Iowa State’s vet teaching hospital. He is a practicing farrier with 15 years of experience working mostly on therapeutic cases. His caseload is primarily Western performance and ranch horses, with a variety of other breeds and disciplines mixed in form racehorses to jumpers.
