Wisconsin Reports Multiple Counties With Confirmed Equine Strangles Cases

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection confirmed at least one case of equine strangles in the following counties: Dane, Jackson, Kenosha, Racine, Rock and Walworth. The also reported a suspected case in Douglas County.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection does not generally issue a quarantine for strangles cases, but it does recommend a voluntary quarantine. The Department recommends that veterinarians work with equine owners and stable owners/managers to implement enhanced biosecurity measures.
