The Texas Animal Health Commission confirmed equine infectious anemia (EIA) in six Quarter Horses on one Refugio County premises on April 15, 2021. The premises has been quarantined and will not be released until TAHCS’s requirements are met. The horses have been euthanized.

TAHC staff are working closely with the owner and local veterinarian to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.
