An attending veterinarian confirmed a case of Potomac horse fever in Fauquier County, Virginia. 

A teenaged cross-bred mare at a boarding facility had onset of clinical signs on July 24 that included dehydration, fever and severe diarrhea. She was confirmed with Potomac horse fever on July 28. 

The vaccinated mare is recovering.
